Mountain Women's Resource Center has a new name. We are now The Center for a Non Violent Community.

The Center for a Non Violent Community (CNVC) actively supports the right of all people to live their lives free from interpersonal violence. We are ardently dedicated to building community which is interdependent, collaborative, respectful of diversity, and supportive of peaceful solutions to conflict.

CNVC reaches 6000 children and adults annually in Tuolumne County through school based primary prevention programs which seek to change social norms regarding the acceptance of violence. Children learn to keep themselves safe from molest, kidnapping, harassment, and bullying; they learn conflict resolution skills; they learn how to get help. Teens learn the dynamics of teen dating violence and the basics for creating healthy relationships; they learn how to protect themselves from date rape, drug facilitated rape, and sexual harassment; they learn where to get help.

Each day the staff and volunteers at the Center for a Non Violent Community strive to heal the hearts and spirits of those who have suffered physical, emotional, and sexual violence at the hands of a loved one, acquaintance or stranger. CNVC provides crisis intervention services to women, men and children in Tuolumne County.
